a flow chart breaking down the lyrics to the timeless Beatle’s song “Hey Jude”
“…like God Ink…” the deflowering ink has been chosen – to be placed on the back of my neck in multicolor (think dreamcoats), uber-saturated hues. the butterflies were taken and manipulated from drawings by John Lennon (aka me in my past life) found in the reissued SKYwriting, super deluxe edition. What praytell, could be more […]

Yer girl in music is just so smitten with the tequila-tinged voice of folk-rock singer-songwriter Lissie Maurus. Though her debut effort, last years Catching a Tiger, has no trouble standing on its own merit, the sizeable collection of famous fans hasn’t done her any harm either. How many up-and-coming songstresses can say Lenny Kravitz invited […]
If you’re a music-minded single living in the U.K. Tastebuds.fm is OK Cupid meets Mog Music (or Spotify, the music streaming service EU loves that for some reason STILL isn’t avail stateside *grumble, grumble*). Its also part Playboy Magazine, as in, I have a profile on the site just so I can read their articles. […]
Lookit this!! Even celeb funnypeoples with a paid professional writing staff wish they were as meme-able as my off the cuff tweet when #breakuptexts was trending. I was ranked #8, but in my journalistic, and therefore 100% objective opinion, mine is clearly the runner up to @PageMoney‘s third-ranked yet obviously best take. See for yourself: […]
Steve Earle quote from an article in Billboard next week…
this is by far the most amazingly beautiful and sacred artwork i have ever seen using the body for ones canvas. it makes me think of beatrix potter or something similarly wonderful and smileful and sparkly and cozy from childhood. it even makes me want to get the same ink on me, but considering its […]
Hi, my name is sesaluna and as i’ve previously mentioned i am a music-festival addict…. this should be read from the bottom up
I sat in on Lluther’s first rehearsal on US soil two nights ago and instantly knew i’ve become part of something huge. What I heard in the small, rented space at Hollywood’s Swinghouse Studios was enormous. And while I filmed the band, sitting right at the center and in the thick of their contagious, energetic […]
your girl in music is a self-identified Festival Junkie, & as spring begins, signaling the start of 5 months of the heavy festival season, more and more email chains begin to resemble the below. Begin forwarded message:
Recently my work blackberry started displaying titles with names on txts and emails. Don’t know why it did but i love it cuz I totally smile whenever CK and I correspond on this damn device now: it’s just so ridiculously fun, and always a little bit surprising, to see “The Boy Bestie CK” in the […]
Part of the Song a Day project: What: Singer/songwriter Jonathan Mann goes Jon Brion and creates a jangly and highly entertaining guitar pop tune solely from the treasure chest of recently unhinged Charlie Sheen quotes. Bonus Points for writing a song more melodic and catchy than 95% of the genre. No points deducted — […]
This story circle, on the other hand, is just utterly uninspiring to me. No matter how much they try to jazz up the graphics. More formula, less muse whispering, almost no ‘anything can happen’…
The Story Circle changed the whole game for me. To un-cliche-ing ‘Our Hero’s Journey’.
Pro-tips for all the creatives reading this. I like that, except item #2, all statements are positives, i.e. they begin with an empowering action or a “do”instead of a negative restriction, or “don’t” … A subtle difference, with a profound impact.
Exceeding expectations always makes my heart smile. I save every gratitude. From: Music Assistant To: Ses Sent: Friday, March 11, 2011 10:42 AM Subject: RE: MUSICIAN You are awesome.
