Capsula – “Ziggy Stardust Teaser” |
Meet Capsula, just your average rock band hailing form Buenos Aires, Argentina. Equal parts 1960s South American psychedelic rock and garage rock, Capsula started in Argentina in the late 90’s and, following some European touring, in 2001 permanently relocated to Bilbao, Spain. Their mix of raw noise with sonic sounds makes for an exciting live show. At 2009’s SXSW Rolling Stone’s David Fricke chose them as one of the best surprises of the festival, calling them a “… high velocity union of The Cramps and The Who, coated in corroded glam. Guevara attacked his guitar with a serious case of Pete Townshend.”
In present day 2013, the band, Martin Guevara (guitar, vocals), Coni Duchess (bass, vocals), and Ignacio ‘Natxo’ Solimo (drums, percussion), has entered the studio to record a new full-length album with Tony Visconti (David Bowie, T-Rex, Alejandro Escovedo, etc.) The new album Solar Secrets will be their first official world wide release and first proper release for the US. Being huge Bowie fans (so much so that last year they re-recorded the entire ‘Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars’ last year and released it in December, see the teaser video), they were thrilled to be working with Visconti who was fresh from working on The Next Day, Bowie’s first studio album in a decade. For Visconti the feeling is mutual, “Capsula is a serious rock trio, possessed of great musicianship with songs destined to be evergreens,” he remarked “I can’t wait until our studio odyssey begins.”
With Visconti at the helm, Capsula will experiment with a variety of sonic influences. Fans will recognize the trio’s signature sound of blazing rock n’ roll riffs, heart pounding drumbeats, and catchy vocal melodies.
Capsula has toured all over Europe, US, Canada, Mexico & South America. Catch them on their U.S. tour with Brazilian psychedelic legends, Os Mutantes at the world famous Troubadour tomorrow night. Further tour dates are below:
