While filing last months email messages I came across the below exchange, in which I first learned of the existence of the ‘screamo’ genre… rereading the chain made me smile and got me thinking that I should really get your opinion on subgenres in music today. Two years ago, when applying to become an agent trainee, part of my thesis paper touched upon the subject, and I stated that one of the reasons there’s never been a more exciting time for music, both in terms of its business and its art, was the slow but sure elimination of truly distinct genres, the start of which we’ve witnessed over the last five years, give or take. Now, after this exchange, well, I think I better think it through again…

We’re crossing New Mexico at the moment on our way to Lubbock TX. I’m still calculating routing for when we’ll be back east. We’re starting a intensive promotion campaign for our shows next month regarding local radio stations etc etc. We also have a few leads regarding sponsorship so fingers crossed on that one.
