5 Fast Questions: The Diamond Light

The Diamond Light Live at Los Globos

Regulars on Angel City’s vibrant and varied music scene are no doubt well-aware of our own Rock-N-Soul standouts, The Diamond Light. The foursome has been tearing up the stages from Silverlake to West Hollywood in the last couple months and just debuted their song “Dusty Walls” on MTV’s ‘Catfish’. Your girl in music caught up with most of the group to learn how they make their live show rock.

Share your go-to pre-show ritual.
Griffin: A nice porter beer to calm any nerves.
Trevor: Fernet!
Brian: Thai town feast – 2 Thai beers and a big plate of pad see ew at Ruen Pair.

And post-show?
Trevor: Chatting with fine folk…
Griffin: Talking to fellow music lovers.
Brian: Glass of Jameson and good conversation with friends.

What do you love most about being on stage?
Trevor: New Fuzz Pedals. Open Tunings. Jammage.
Brian: Getting into to the sexiest pocket with my main man Ian Ochs.

Griffin: Knowing it could fall apart at any moment and how you’re going to build it back up again.

Complete this sentence: My favorite song to play live is____.
Griffin: Oklahoma ’47 – as of late.
Trevor: SWS.
Brian: The entire set!

Let’s part with a favorite memory or craziest gig story.
Trevor: Petting a horse after a recent Topanga gig
Griffin: Playing to an overly energetic crowd at the Lightning in a Bottle Festival

Brian: Griffin got a bloody nose mid set and transformed his white telecaster to a nice deep red. People thought he was a coke head but really he was just shredding too hard.
